This book is about a family that lives with a dog named Benjy. Their aunt comes over, and she has a bird that just learned how to bark. Benjy is jealous because the children aren't paying attention to him. He sets the bird free, and now it's loose!
The next morning, everyone goes looking, can't find it, and then go to the pet store to buy a new parakeet. They see a parakeet--it wasn't the original parakeet, it was a new one. But they still bought it.
The next day, they found the bird. The other bird from the pet shop, and the bird that they found that could bark, got married. What a lovely story.

JUNIE B. JONES LOVES HANDSOME WARREN By Barbara Park
Junie B. Jones is a series. In the series, there are books that take place when she is in first grade and kindergarten. But I'm going to talk about a specific book.
This book is about how Junie B. Jones loves this boy, but he thinks she's wacko. Junie's friends Lucille and Grace like him, too. He likes them as friends. The last time Junie saw him, she was laying on the ground, laughing like crazy and rolling over. That's why he thinks she's nuts.
Don't miss any of these books--they're wonderful.

THE GIVING TREE By Shel Silverstein
The Giving Tree is a really great book. It's been around since my mom was a little kid.
It's about a boy who loves this tree so much that he plays with it all the time. Then he grows up and doesn't visit it for a while. Then he comes back, but he was too old to climb the branches and do all that stuff. Then he got even older and older and older, and the same thing happened.
I think you would love this book so much that you would read it all the time. I got it for my birthday when I turned seven, from my aunt.

STONE SOUP By Ann McGovern
This story is about a boy who taught a grouchy old lady how to make soup out of a big stone. She says, "Well, this stone soup is not going to work. I'm going to make a soup, and I'm going to show you." So she tries to prove to the boy that you can't make soup out of stones. But one day, she woke up and she looked in the pot. No stone, but there was delicious yummy soup with carrots and vegetables and all yummy stuff.
You are going to love this book. It's for boys and girls, and it's a book that you can start reading yourself, maybe in first grade.

LIGHT THE LIGHTS By Margaret Moorman
This book is about a girl who celebrates Hannukah and Christmas, just like me. There are different parts of the two different holidays. This book will teach you about the two different holidays, even if you don't even celebrate one of them.
I hope you loved this post! Remember, the holidays are coming up soon.

PIPPI GOES TO SCHOOL By Astrid Lindgren
This is one of the Pippi Longstockings books. It's not a chapter book. It's good for boys and girls, and is a very funny story. I think you would love it. It's one of the many books in the series.
You should read this--check it out of the library or buy it!

PATRICK'S DINOSAURS By Carol Carrick
This book is really good for a boy child, and girl child. It's about a boy who has a big brother, and he learns about all different dinosaurs from his brother at the zoo. His brother taught him a lot.
The little boy Patrick was imagining that all the animals at the zoo were different kinds of dinosaurs. Then he figured out that he was just imagining it.
I think whether you're a girl or boy, you should read this book.
